Learn To Sail
Our Learn To Sail Program aims to make sailing accessible to all students. Our goal is to lower the barrier of entry to the sport of sailing. This program is important because it introduces the sport of sailing to all students at Florida Tech. Read more about our Learn To Sail program here!
About Us
We are the Florida Tech Sailing Club and the Florida Tech Sailing Team. We are located in Melbourne Florida, sometimes on campus but most of the time at our shed located next to Melbourne Yacht Club at our Anchorage location! The Sailing Club hosts a Learn To Sail Program every weekend during the fall and spring semesters. Club membership is open to anyone. The use of the Club Boats are available to anyone who has completed the Learn To Sail Program and membership dues are up to date. Our Sailing Team practices three times a week, and competes on the weekends. We are a member of the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Conference (SAISA) and travel all over Florida and the Southeast US. Our Fleet currently consists of two 420’s and one FJ. We also participate as dedicated crew members in local regattas with our neighbor MYC. Want to learn more – come to one of our meetings!
Florida Tech Sailing Club Fundraising Project – Fleet Renewal
In order for us to maintain our Learn To Sail Program and Club, we ask for your support. The club currently has a fleet of two 30 year old 420’s and one 20 year old FJ. They are good boats, but have seen their better times. We are asking for your support. Any and all donations will go to a much needed fleet renewal for our school , Club , and Team. Depending upon how much we can raise , our goals are as follows:
$5,000 in Funding
Hoping to reach a minimum goal of five thousand dollars, we would purchase a newer used fleet of 4-5 matching 420’s.
$10,000 in Funding
With this money the club could purchase a fleet of 4-5 newer used matching 420’s and 3-4 newer used matching FJ’s.
$50,000 in Funding
The club could purchase 4-5 brand new 420 sailboats.
